Saying I Do Against the Majestic Backdrop of Garrapata State Beach in Big Sur

Are you dreaming of a quiet and intimate wedding, surrounded by the beauty of nature? Look no further than Garrapata State Beach in Big Sur. With its stunning coastline and breathtaking views, it is the perfect location for an elopement that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

At Nadeen Sparks Photography, we spend a lot of our time capturing elopements in Big Sur, and Garrapata State Beach is one of our favorite spots. The secluded and serene atmosphere of this beach creates an enchanting and romantic setting for your special day. Whether you want to exchange vows on the sandy shores or against the dramatic rocks, the possibilities are endless.

Permits to Aquire

Before planning your elopement at Garrapata State Beach, it’s important to be aware of the permits needed. You will need to obtain a permit from the California Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as a Special Event Permit from the Monterey County Parks Department. These permits ensure that your wedding ceremony is in compliance with state regulations and help protect the natural beauty of the beach.

Another important consideration is the maximum number of guests allowed at Garrapata State Beach. Due to its intimate nature, the beach has a limit of 25 people, including the wedding party, officiant, and any vendors. This restriction ensures that your elopement remains intimate and allows you to truly focus on the love and connection between you and your partner.

Where to Stay and Eat

When it comes to accommodations near Garrapata State Beach, there are several options available to suit your preferences and budget. Some popular choices include the Carmel Valley Ranch, a luxurious resort nestled in the hills with stunning views of the surrounding countryside, or the Tickle Pink Inn, a charming boutique hotel located along the iconic Highway 1. If you prefer a more rustic and secluded experience, the Big Sur River Inn offers cozy cabins nestled amongst the redwoods, with the soothing sounds of the river just steps away.

After your elopement, why not celebrate with a small reception at one of the local restaurants in Carmel? From intimate wine bars to cozy seafood restaurants, there are plenty of options to choose from. For a romantic and elegant atmosphere, we recommend Il Tegamino, a charming Italian restaurant known for its delectable pasta dishes and warm hospitality. For seafood lovers, The Tuck Box is a must-visit, with its charming English cottage ambiance and fresh seafood menu.

No matter where you choose to stay or celebrate after your elopement, the beauty and tranquility of Garrapata State Beach in Big Sur will ensure that your special day is nothing short of magical. Let Nadeen Sparks Photography capture every precious moment, creating authentic and emotional images that will transport you back to the joy and love you felt on your wedding day. "Nadeen and her husband Gabe are amazing people!! We traveled all the way out to Big Sur, from Ohio, and we couldn't have asked for a better elopement. Nadeen and her husband Gabe and their did an amazing job. They were so helpful in the planning and nadeen answered all of our questions and concerns in such a timely manner, a true professional. Nadeen didn't simply take our pictures, which were incredible, she was basically an ambassador for the area. They made us feel comfortable they took their time and it was easy to see how important it was to them to really capture our wedding. My mom was not in attendance at the wedding, but mentioned several times how much the photos helped her feel a part of our day. I'd give them 6 stars if I could."
